About Us

Why are we called Faraday’s Cage? A Faraday’s Cage is a metal enclosure which can be solid or cage-like. It prevents any electromagnetic signals, such as mobile phone reception, WiFi and Bluetooth, from getting in, or out. You might be thinking, so what? Well, John, the owner, and baker, has a background as an electrical engineer. At one of his places of work he was often hard to find when needed, which prompted one of his co-workers to say to him that he must be protected by a Faraday Cage, and gave him the nickname of Mr. Faraday.

When we were looking for a name for the cafe, we thought that wouldn’t it be nice if you could have a Faraday Cage that protected you not from electromagnetic interference, but everyday interference and hassle. We want our customers to relax and enjoy their visit to Faraday’s Cage and forget about the hassles in their life for a while, and that’s why the name!
